Staying hydrated before, during, and after a cryotherapy session not only improves your health – but improves the intensity, dynamic, and the overall effect of the cryotherapy benefits on your body. Water – and the right kind of water – improves all the cellular functions of the body and thereby sets a standard for improving all the functions, interactions, and communications of the human body and brain.
Today, water is a huge dilemma. For one, we contaminate our tap water. There are over 3,000 known medications found in our water. Additionally, the water found in rivers on mountains and springs are naturally-sourced with real fluoride. However, our tap water is exposed to artificial fluoride additives at a high “parts per million” rate. Bottled water contains plastic residues that hurt our bodies over the long-term. Naturally-sourced spring water that are in glass bottles would be theoretically the right choice. However, when you need to hydrate – and you don’t have a beautiful natural spring in your backyard or spring water coming down a mountainside right next to your home – when you don’t have these resources – what is the best water to drink?

However, when you need to hydrate – and you don’t have a beautiful natural spring in your backyard or a river flowing down a mountainside to your door – the question remains: what is the best kind of water to drink?
Some scientific perspectives on water
The human body relies on water for the growth, repair, maintenance, and reproduction, and water is the primary medium required for all these actions to take place. Water makes up at least 5% and up to 95% of every cell and is most commonly found in the range 65% to 75%. Outside the cells, nutrients are dissolved in water (extracellular fluids); inside the cells, water provides the medium for life-sustaining chemical reactions for our body to function properly. This molecular compound of hydrogen and oxygen (H2O) dissolves food, nutrients, oxygen, and wastes that make up a significant portion of the blood.
Chemicals and VOCs
Chemicals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and toxins that are part of the final product present in our drinking water and found in most of our foods are leading to hazardous health outcomes that affect brain, body, and major disruptions at the cellular level. Modern additives (chemicals that are added to the water), such as fluoride, affect inflammation and acute and chronic pain in adults and children.
Most Bottled Water is…
Some research points to bottled water over tap water, however, some research says the exact opposite. It ultimately depends on the location of the tap water. And as long as your not buying bottled water that is really tap water – you should be okay. For example, Pepsi’s “Aquafina” Bottled Water and Coca-Cola Co.’s “Dasani” bottled water is tap water. And with all of the chemicals found in our tap water today, even though his water is purified – it is purified to the point that is still lingers unnecessary chemicals and removes all vitamins and minerals. So, it does your body more harm drinking this kind of water since it strips your body of its own essential vitamins and minerals! The Environmental Working Group suggests drinking filtered tap water at the end of the day. I’d agree, however, put lemon and a sprinkle organic, raw, Himalayan salt into the water to enhance the amount of trace minerals.
Your best bet for ensuring good health, and protecting the environment, is to filter your own water at home using a reverse osmosis filter. Avoid drinking unfiltered tap water, as chlorine and fluoride (which are added to most municipal water supplies) are toxic chemicals that should not be consumed in large quantities.

Drinking purified, mineral-enhanced water will help with cellular processes including the mitochondria which are responsible for fueling the energy of the cell. This, in turn, will improve the overall energetic, physiological, psychological, and immunological systems working in harmony during exercise and a cryotherapy session.
